Jerry Hopper has recently been interviewed by Placebo. "My early gaming experiences? When I was 12 years old, I got one of the very first Commodore 64's that was available in the Netherlands. Despite the seemingly endless loading times with the cassette-recorder, I enjoyed this very first encounter with computers. I never touched that tiny Spectrum computer which was - in my opinion - too small for me. While fooling around with games on the commodore 64, I became more and more fascinated with the little intro's that magically appeared before you started a game. It didn’t take long until I created my own intros and got in contact with the 'scene' that made these intros. This were actually my first steps in a 'digital' community, having fun and actually 'creating' things on a computer." You can read more here |

More information and pictures were placed up on the BIS website in the shape of a blog. This time focusing on the vegitation in ArmA 2
"Currently, we're finalizing trees and bushes for ARMA2. The biggest problem with vegetation is impact on game performance, so we develop a lot of new techniques on the side of the engine and on the side of LindaStudio as well. We make very deep analysis of performance problems in Armed assault and we find, that the main problem is overdraw in the first 20 meters of the scene. So it means, we needed to optimize the overall surface of trees and bushes and develop some more effective shaders and drawing techniques in the engine to reduce these aspects. So what did we do?" You can read the whole blog here. |

Came accross this site today, and found a little link to the support for ArmA 2 which had obligatory screenies.! You can view them here Triple head to go is a very nice system and I have been pondering on the dgitial version for a while, perhaps if any of you have already got this system send me an email, it would be great to hear some feedback/review on the technology and its application to ArmA. |

Greetings and salutations, this is Enven for Got Flashpoint? !!! (Adding another exclamation point would be too much.) Some of you may know me from the NA community based gaming groups: ShackTac and SimHQ. Rh0dite has been kind enough to let me post news for his worldly-renowned website; hopefully I can produce something worthy of reading. Unfortunately updates have been sparse, as of now two things have caught my eye. IMW - The Iraqi Modern Warfare Conversion , and Dslyecxi's video archive on Stage6, and of course Jerry's interviews this past couple weeks.

I was recently linked an interesting article regarding ArmA and OFP. "I chat to my captive ArmA player about all this, and he tells me most of the people responsible for creating these simulators, or even using them, are (in conjunction with Bohemia themselves) the same people who are on the game forums or are organizing the teams that make war in imaginary places every weekend. They're the virtual soldiers he fights alongside on a Saturday afternoon." You can read the full article - here |
